Jesus Bus
Down to earth kind of love
You may or may not have seen our awesome buses driving abound Victoria, or parked at various locations and events. You may be asking yourself the question why would Diamond Valley Baptist Church have two buses. This is a unique program that we run, because we have a unique message that goes hand in hand with the program.
We believe that because of the state of the world in which we live, which is sometimes good, but mostly difficult, there are few things that we can place our hope in. By hope we mean, "a chance that something desirable will happen or be possible". A quick glance at the current suicide rates, and current divorce rates, quickly diminishes any amount of hope that some people have for a great future. The reason that our message is unique is because we believe, that this hope that we are all desperate for, and this hope that we all need to hold on to, can only be found within a relationship with Jesus.
Easter is a great time for all of us to consider the meaning behind it. God through His son, Jesus, stepped down to earth to prove his incredible love for each of us. Romans 5:8 is one verse out of many that puts it really well, "But God showed his great love for us by sending Christ to die for us..." We believe that if people really understood how much Jesus Christ loves each of us, this world would be very different. The love that we can experience if we give Jesus the opportunity is indescribable love that has no conditions attached to it. Trying to explain or even understand this love is difficult, because we are constantly surrounded by love that has conditions. Most relationships, if not every relationship that we have, has conditional love, but until you have experienced, the unconditional love that Jesus offers, this love that stepped down to earth, we cannot know what it is to have a true and full life. The life that Jesus promises when we allow him to show us the best way to live, starts from the time we accept what Jesus did on the cross, the true meaning behind Easter. Jesus doesn’t promise an easy life or one free from hard times, but he promises to walk with us through difficult times. That is something that we all need, often.
We all need to put our hope in "life". This sounds weird and is sometimes a throwaway line, but the reason that we give and receive eggs during the time of Easter is because of the symbolism behind the egg. The egg symbolizes new life. That is something that at some stage we all need, when things get unbearable, when we have made mistakes and really wish we hadn’t, when things happen to us that we have no control over, it during some or all of these times that we need new life, we believe that Jesus is the only person who can give this new life that we all desperately need.
If you have ever asked yourself "what is the meaning of life?" as deep as that question is the answer is not that difficult, one verse in Colossians (a book in the New Testament part of the Bible.) puts it clearly, Colossians 1:10 "Ask Jesus; to show you how you can live your life so that it is pleasing to the Lord (God), and honour him, which means to have (great respect and admiration), so that you will always be doing good, kind things for others, while all the time you are learning to know God better and better.." if you want to know the meaning of life and the way that you can get a new lease on life, then the answer is found in many verses in the Bible. This verse has many great practical keys on how you and I can find a new lease on life, by letting Jesus help us live our life.
You may or may not have read this set of amazing bible verses, but these kind of sum up a little more clearly what it is that has been explained here on this website. Jeremiah 29:11 – 13 "For I know the plans I have for you," declares the LORD, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. Then you will call upon me and come and pray to me, and I will listen to you. You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart."
In brief, God (the Lord) desires to, and even has a plan to give us a future and hope, and he promises not to harm us. That is something that is miss understood, God doesn’t cause things to happen to us at all. What he promises, is to help us through the difficult times. And all we need to do is seek him with all our heart and we will find him.
There is a lot more to the message than what we are able to communicate through a website, and because of this, if you would like to ask any questions or discuss this further, or even get clarification on something or disagree with something that has been written, then please don’t hesitate to email us by clicking here, or call us on (03) 9435 9377.
