Evergreens Friendship Group

Inspiration

'Blessed is the man who trusts in the Lord, and whose hope is the Lord. For he shall be as a tree planted by the waters, that spreads out her roots by the river, and shall not fear when heat comes, but her leaf shall be green; and shall not be anxious in the year of drought, neither shall cease from yielding fruit.' Jeremiah 17:7-8

Purpose

To provide an environment that promotes fellowship for the Seniors age group and to provide the opportunity for fun and enjoyment through activities with friends which may not be possible otherwise.

The Evergreen Friendship Group are senior members of the community who get together on a regular basis to share together in a range of activities. The Evergreens are dedicated to providing an environment of support and encouragement for seniors. They meet on the first Thursday of the month at different times according to the planned activity. The group provides fellowship and information for people of a similar age and a non-threatening introduction to Christianity.

The aim of the group is to understand the issues that face senior members of our society and assist each other with these issues Evergreens will develop friendships with people of a similar age and enjoy activities that they may not be able to do otherwise.

What kind of activities?

Evergreens enjoy activities with other people. Sometimes we may get together with Strathalan Homes to play bowls. We have mystery trips, speakers, garden outings, picnics and luncheons.

When is it on?

Activities include fellowship meals, local picnics, bus visits to places of interest and guest speakers. Activity times will be advertised in the Church newsletter, On Mission and through the pigeon holes.

Costs

Costs are kept as low as possible. When necessary they are proportionate to the cost of hiring the coach or a donation is asked for to cover costs. Costs will be advised prior to the event or outing.
